Relationship continues to thrive between Hospice and local, loyal business

Dreamland donation to Room to Care

Staff at Mary Stevens Hospice have gratefully received a £40,000 donation from long-time benefactor, Mike Brown of Dreamland, Brierley Hill

This generous donation will be used towards funding the Stourbridge based Hospice’s ‘Room-to-care’ appeal.

The Covid-19 pandemic meant that the Hospice needed to adapt and change to be able to continue to care for their patients and families, but their facilities couldn’t accommodate these adaptions. Therefore, the ‘Room-to-care appeal was launched in 2022 to fund some major changes at the Hospice.

The proposed changes as part of the Room-to-care appeal will help Hospice staff ensure that they can continue to deliver the best possible care, in the safest possible environment, whilst better utilising the space that they have.

The Hospice launched their appeal and sought support from local businesses and trusts to help them fund the redevelopment of the Hospice.

Mike Brown, Owner of Dreamland Bedding said:

“At Dreamland we are immensely proud of how the local community support the business. I really wanted to give back, and the Mary Stevens have had a great impact on a lot members of the community. I felt that their holistic approach to programmes of care resonated with the ethos of the business. I have been raising money for the hospice for some time now and the total figure is over £225,000.

Training as always been a core element of the business, passing knowledge and expertise to customers has built the reputation of the business, The Dreamland team have also been to the Hospice to see where the amazing work takes place. This has given our staff a pure passion and drive for raising awareness of the hospice.”

Amanda Bowen, Head of Fundraising and Lottery at The Mary Stevens Hospice said:

“Having recognised the need to improve our facilities to future proof our ongoing care, we were delighted to receive such a substantial donation from our long time supporters, Dreamland beds.

The sheer amount of their donations over the years has not only enabled us to take care of our patients but has helped us forge a relationship with the Dreamland team that we are extremely proud of.

Without their support and that of other local businesses, taking care of those in our community who are living with life limiting illnesses and bereavement would not be possible. We can’t thank them enough.”
