The first ever Mary Stevens Hospice Invitational Trophy!

On Saturday 2nd September, more than 100 fantastic children took part in the first-ever invitational football tournament for the Mary Stevens Hospice

Mary Stevens Hospice Invitational Trophy

In the same weekend England limped to victory over Slovakia, here at the Hospice we were privileged to bear witness to some of the finest young footballers our area has to offer, in the first ever Mary Stevens Hospice Invitational Trophy, sponsored by M.Webb Groundworks & Plant Hire Ltd.

Throughout Saturday 2nd September 2017, we hosted two football tournaments for local under-7’s and under-8’s teams to compete for the inaugural trophy and enjoy a fantastic family day full of football!

We were also incredibly grateful to be supported by a number of guest referees, including former-WBA and Walsall star, James Chambers, and Hospice CEO, Stevan Jackson.

The teams who took part in the day were:

Under-7’s:

  • FC Crystal
  • PS Olympic
  • Kewford Eagles (North)
  • Withymoor
  • Kidderminster Lions
  • Black Country Cobras

Under-8’s:

  • Kewford Eagles
  • West Hagley West
  • Phoenix Youth
  • PS Olympic
  • Halesowen Town Colts
  • Brierley Hill Bullets

At this point, we’d just like to say a HUGE congratulations to Kewford Eagles North and Phoenix Youth, who were the winners of their respective tournaments. Both tournaments were tightly contested from start to finish, and all of the players involved did themselves, their teammates and their families proud on the day!

Amount raised

As well as treating us to a fantastic day of football, the children also helped us to raise a whopping £14,000 for the families here at our Hospice, which is just the most overwhelming amount and we’re so grateful to each and every one of them for the part they played!

We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
