Everything is real but the balloon!
Buy a balloon for you, a family member, friend, teacher, colleague and pick your balloons colour, pattern, helium content and rubber thickness. Make sure you label your balloon! When the balloon is released on the 3rdJuly, you can then track it 24/7 on Google Maps.
Each balloon is £3 and Mary Stevens Hospice will receive £2.37. The winner is the balloon that travels the furthest at the end of the 7 days (your balloon can still win if it pops)
The balloons will be released from Hogwarts School on the 3rdJuly to celebrate schools out for summer!
All of the balloons are subject to a simulated flight pattern which is based on the actual weather conditions in real time, such as temperature and wind speed. These real weather conditions are reflected in the race through a simulation that uses an advanced computer modelling programme linked to Google Maps and Aeris, a commercial global weather data supplier.
What could you win?
Your balloon will challenge all of the other balloons taking part for other organisations on the 3rdJuly. If your balloon travels the furthest over the seven days, you could be the lucky winner of one of the following prizes, which are all kindly supplied by Eco Racing:

How do I take part?
It’s easy – just click here, to sign up
- You need to create an account
- Select ‘Start raising for an existing charity’
- Type in Mary Stevens Hospice and select ‘The Mary Stevens Hospice – Schools Out Race’
- Pick the number of balloons you would like to enter the race
- Design all elements of your balloon: colour, pattern, rubber thickness, helium content and don’t forget your label!
- By creating your account you will be able to track the progress of your balloons over the course of the seven days.
Don’t forget that you can buy as many balloons as you would like, the more the merrier!
