BANK Band 5 Registered Nurse


This role is to supplement our current bank team who are vital to the smooth running of the hospice.  Flexibility is crucial to the role as the primary purpose is to cover shifts, often at short notice, to cover absences.  Bank members are engaged as a worker and not an employee.  

The post holder will deliver high-quality, compassionate palliative and end-of-life nursing care to patients admitted to the hospice inpatient unit. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Band 5 Registered Nurse (RN) will provide holistic care that meets patients’ physical, emotional, psychological, social and spiritual needs, while supporting families and those important to the patient.

The role involves assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised care, ensuring care is delivered in line with best practice, professional standards, hospice policies and values. The post holder will contribute to maintaining a safe, supportive and therapeutic environment and will support students, junior staff and volunteers as appropriate.

BANK Healthcare Assistant

The Healthcare Assistant (Band 3) will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to provide compassionate, person-centred care to patients with life-limiting illness in the hospice in-patient unit. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the post holder will support patients with their personal care, comfort and wellbeing, while maintaining dignity, respect and privacy at all times.

The role involves supporting patients’ physical, emotional and psychological needs, assisting with clinical observations and care activities, and contributing to a safe, supportive and welcoming environment for patients, families and visitors.

Blue Box Collector

We are looking for volunteer Blue Box collectors to join our team. You will be building relationships with local businesses and supporters out and about in your local community whilst supporting your Hospice just a few hours a month.

Our Blue Boxes are Mary Stevens Hospice Collection Boxes that you see near till points across the Borough for donations. They are situated in various local businesses and are a way in which vital funds are raised for the Hospice. With so many Blue Boxes out and about in the area, we are looking for volunteers to help us collect them and distribute new boxes.
