Mission, vision and values

The heart behind everything we do

At The Mary Stevens Hospice, our mission, vision and values guide every act of care, every conversation, and every decision we make. They remind us why we exist - to care for people living with life-limiting illness, and to support those who are most important to them.

Our mission

To make every moment matter

Our mission is simple yet profound: to provide equitable specialist palliative and end-of-life care for people aged 18 years and over with a life-limiting illness, in an environment where everyone feels supported and safe to access and receive personalised care that is delivered with care, compassion and kindness.

Support us to achieve our mission

When you choose to support The Mary Stevens Hospice, you’re not only helping us provide hospice care today, you’re helping us protect the future of the hospice, ensuring that people in our community will always have somewhere to turn when they need it most.

Our values guide every heartbeat of our hospice...

Our vision

A community where everyone feels cared for

We envision a future where every person in our community will have access to compassionate, specialist palliative and end-of-life care, delivered by a dedicated team with the skills and knowledge to provide comfort, dignity and support. Care will be available in the hospice and across community settings, ensuring it is timely, equitable and personalised to each individual's needs.

We are committed to helping people live well and die well - because every moment matters.

Our values

Humanity in every action, dignity in every moment

Our values are simple: care, compassion and kindness. It is these values that make our vision a reality every day. The statements below reflect how we demonstrate our values.

People

People are at the heart of what we do. We are committed to providing care and support that is responsive to the individual needs of those requiring our services.

Respect and dignity

We honour respect and dignity. Everyone- patients, visitors, colleagues and volunteers - is treated with the humanity and kindness they deserve.

Stronger together

We are stronger together. By working hand-in-hand with local health care services and with our communities, we ensure care is designed and provided around the needs of the people we serve.

Learning

We grow through learning. We strive to continually improve the care we provide for our people. We listen to feedback, we stay current with our knowledge and learn from our experiences.

Integrity

Integrity is at the core of our work - being open, transparent and accountable, while celebrating the successes that inspire us all.
