Sign up to our newsletterThis week, we were honoured to welcome Dr Kathryn Mannix to The Mary Stevens Hospice last week as part of our Dying Matters Week events.

Dr Mannix, renowned palliative care doctor and author, joined us for a session that brought together hospice staff, supporters, and members of our community. Her visit was part of a special event facilitated by our CEO and Matron, Claire Towns, Gemma Allen, Director of Strategy, Innovation and Communications, and Co-Founder and Programme Lead of No Barriers Here, and Jed Jerwood, Co-Founder and Research Lead of No Barriers Here.
Dr Mannix shared stories and wisdom drawn from her decades of experience supporting people at the end of life. It was a privilege to hear her speak, and we know her words deeply resonated with everyone who attended.

Following the talk, Dr Mannix generously took the time to sign copies of her books, speak with attendees, contribute to our Wisdom Tree, and even pose for a few selfies! We are so grateful to have hosted this event in partnership with The Heath Bookshop, No Barriers Here, and Brum YODO. We are proud to collaborate with them in championing open and honest conversations about death, dying and bereavement.
Thank you once again to Dr Kathryn Mannix for spending time with us and supporting our work. Your visit will stay with us for a long time to come.
