Sign up to our newsletterAs part of the visit, two squirrel monkeys, Gracie and Sharky, and two Humboldt penguins, Pringle and Widget, visited areas of the hospice including the Day Services Unit (DSU) and In-Patient Unit (IPU). The animals were warmly received and provided a welcome source of interest and enjoyment for everyone who saw and petted them.
The visit offered patients and visitors the opportunity to engage with the animals in a calm environment, while staff and volunteers also valued the chance to take part in this memorable experience during their working day.
The hospice would like to extend sincere thanks to Ruth Radley for organising the visit in partnership with Heythrop Zoological Gardens. Events such as this play an important role in enhancing wellbeing and creating positive moments for those in our care, and this visit will be fondly remembered by all.
