What is Dying Matters week?
Dying Matters Awareness Week takes place from 5th – 11th May and aims to breakdown the stigma and taboo of talking about death and dying.
Many events take place during the week, to bring communities together to get them to start talking about death and dying.
Each year has a different theme for the week. This year the theme is the culture of Dying Matters. It focuses on how different communities and cultures in the UK feel, talk about, and deal with death and dying – and what brings them together.
You can find out more through Hospice UK here.

With the End in Mind: How to Live and Die Well by Kathryn Mannix
Wednesday 7th May, 7pm
Join us for a book discussion on With the End in Mind: How to Live and Die Well.
What if everything you knew about death was wrong? And what if understanding death improved your life? This book brings together Kathryn Mannix’s lifetime of medical experience to tell powerful stories of life and death. As a community, we will come together to discuss the book and open up the conversation on death and dying.
How it works?
You can order the book online and there is also audio versions of the book available too. Sign up below to join us for the discussion, where you will be sent a link to a teams meeting for the 7th May.
