Relatives’ Hamper
This one’s really quite special, and we’d like to start by saying a HUGE happy 1st birthday to beautiful Scarlett.
Our John passed away here in the care of the Hospice in February 2017, and every month since then his lovely wife Jenny and daughter Laura, have been doing something incredible.
As you know, all are welcome here whether it’s 2 o’clock in the morning, Christmas Day or the 31st of February, there will always be someone here to help you.
As a result, it’s very common that families will spend a long, long time here with us because sometimes it can be the most difficult thing in the world to leave a loved one for the night while you go home – so most people don’t.
We do our best to make sure everyone in the building is fed and watered, but the reality of that situation is that there isn’t always a tremendous amount of variety for the families and loved ones.
Tea, coffee and water will only sustain a person for so long, after all and most families do just stay with their loved ones rather than nipping to the shop or home for a bite to eat.
So Jenny and Laura have been bringing a relatives’ hamper up here once a month, to offer snacks, sweets and treats to loved ones and family members of Hospice patients. The hamper lives in our family area, and is free to anyone who would like anything out of it.
The reason we’re telling you this, is because today is the 1st birthday of John’s only granddaughter and what a little stunner she’s growing up to be!
So please join us in saying a huge thank you to Laura Taylor and Jenny Guider for their remarkable kindness.
It’s such a generous and conscientious thing to do for the families here, and what a wonderful way to pay tribute to John in what we know must be such an incredibly difficult time.
Thank you so much
