5th March 1992: HRH Princess Diana officially opens the Mary Stevens Hospice Day Unit
You may or may not know, but way back when in 1992 we had the honour of being officially opened by Lady Diana, Princess of Wales.
The day was one of the most remarkable experiences that we as a charity have ever had. People lined the streets of Oldswinford to welcome the Princess, and she could not have been friendlier and more gracious.
In cutting the ribbon at this wonderful place, she laid the foundation for a charity which has gone on to support tens of thousands of people across the country, providing the care they deserve in their hour of greatest need.
The incredibly talented Linton Hart, of Portraits by Hart, captured the day in full and created this stunning commemorative video of the day.
So, today, on the 20th anniversary of the untimely passing, we’d like for you to enjoy the emotion of a day that will forever live on in the heart and memory of all associated with this Hospice.
Now, and always, our thoughts remain with the family, friends and loved ones who knew Diana best, and with all those whose lives she touched during her life. We are forever grateful for the start she gave us in life.
