TREE OF LIGHT 5th December 2010

Lights Shine for Loved Ones

Tree of LightMary Stevens Hospice’s treasured remembrance tree shines brightly with thousands of twinkling lights during this year’s festive period.

Each year the Hospice invites members of the community to dedicate a light in memory of a loved one, or as a gift for a member of their family or friend. Single or multiple lights can be sponsored for a minimum of £5 per light by completing the form below, by calling into one of the Hospice shops or at the Fundraising office within the grounds of the Hospice.

The Tree of Light is lit each evening until the twelfth night in January, and is a source of peace and joy throughout the festive season.

The current list of Tributes is available to view below (in standard PDF format.)

A remembrance service will be held in the Hospice grounds around the tree, which will be lit during the service on Sunday, December 5 at 4.30pm, and all members of the community are invited to attend. Festive carols and songs will be performed during the Service. A selection of poetry written by members of the community are read out, together with prayers led by the Hospice Chaplain, all contributing to a memorable occasion.

Janet Jones, Head of Fundraising said, "Last year the Tree of Light was a huge success with over 500 people attending on a crisp, winter's afternoon, to remember their loved ones.

Everyone is welcome to attend and people don’t need previous experience of the Hospice to be part of the family".

Refreshments and limited seating for the less able will be available.
